The whole story....

About May we were driving around and Aidan saw a guy riding a motorcycle with a mohawk. He went nuts and really wanted his hair cut like that. I did my best to blow it off but it didn't work. He kept asking and finally I said "maybe for your birthday" (over two months away) assuming he would forget. He didn't forget and kept reminding me.

The day before his birthday he asked again so I asked him why he wanted his hair cut like that. He said "because I want everyone to know that I am different..."

What was I supposed to do?

I took him to the salon and sat him down in the chair and told him to tell the stylist what he wanted. He did, and she looked at me with southern Ohio minimum wage concern and said, "Does his Mother know?". I said "Yup".

He was in the first chair closest to the waiting area in the Lebanon Great Clips and the other folks waiting for a bad hair cut were smiling, and pointing and giving me the thumbs up, with the exception of one woman. She was about my age and had two boys about 8 and 10 who were hanging over the half wall between them and Aidan's chair. They were transfixed and just about drooling, the Mom was literally glaring at me. She realized what was ahead for her.

I have a series of black and white photos of Aidan a day or two after his birthday taken at a construction site. Nothing was really planned. He is shirtless because he spilled juice on his shirt on the way to the location. In some of the shots he is wearing a skull around his neck because he had it in his pocket. He kept the cut two or three weeks.
